About Steven D. Wegner

aLillian T. Cat, our Silver Shaded Persian on the Home Page, or Jackson, in my arms on the right, are pets that Diane and I have owned who, I suspect, felt they owned us!. Both were adopted from rescue organizations. My love for Lily and Jackson, and the realization that pets do so much to enrich our lives, inspired me to become a pet law specialist. That commitment is renewed every day when I see how many homeless pets are being offered for adoption by private rescue organizations and public shelters.

After graduating in 1970 from Pepperdine University with a B.A.in History, I spent three years at USC's Gould School of Law. After graduating in 1973, I developed my legal skills while practicing in a corporate law department and small firm. For the last thirty years, I have been the principal in the Law Offices of Steven D. Wegner.

I welcome the opportunity to use this office's resources in any situation that involves a four-footed family member.   Because my firm exists to protect your legal rights and the welfare of your pets, we provide services in the following areas:

  • Recovering damages when your pet is injured by a negligent or intentional act.

  • Resolving pet custody and ownership  disputes between unmarried couples when they separate

  • Appearing at administrative hearings where your pet is accused of being a dangerous animal where restrictions can be imposed or your pet found so dangerous it is ordered euthanized

  • Enforcing your right to have a pet in your home and to visit places of business, if you are disabled

  • Securing your pet;s future through a Pet Trust, a binding legal document t. That ensures your pet is cared for when you cannot—ensuring that all your other legal rights are protected.

  • Dealing with situations where you believed your pet did not receive proper care from a veterinarian, or a day care center

  • Obtaining damages where your pet's remains are not property handled

I am a member of the Humane Society and actively support its many programs to make the world a better place for animals. I am a voracious reader of the doings of animals and share some of my most exciting discoveries and stories on the All About Animals page.
ubI will be happy to respond to any inquiries sthrough my Contact page.   I look forward to ssproviding an inexpensive consultatio if doing so can help you or your pet.

There is, after all, nothing more important than protecting a family member.
